ISBN
ISBN for your book.
An ISBN is the 13-digit identifier retailers and libraries use to track your book. Each format needs its own โ paperback, hardcover, eBook, audiobook. We handle ISBN registration as part of every package.
- Free ISBNs registered through the official Indian agency (isbnindia.gov.in).
- One ISBN per format โ paperback, hardcover, eBook, audiobook.
- Indian agency ISBNs work globally โ Amazon, IngramSpark, Apple Books, Kobo all accept them.
- Imprint name is yours โ not 'Independently Published' as Amazon's free ISBNs would say.
Why have your own ISBN
Amazon offers a free ISBN, but the imprint on it reads 'Independently Published'. With an Indian-agency ISBN your imprint name is whatever you choose โ your name, or a publisher you've set up.
Same ISBN across stores
An ISBN identifies the book, not the store. The same ISBN works on Amazon, IngramSpark, Apple Books and Kobo. You don't need a different one per retailer.
We handle the paperwork
Indian agency registration involves a few forms and a few weeks. We file these on your behalf so it's ready when your book is.
Frequently asked.
- Do I need a separate ISBN for hardcover and paperback?
- Yes. Each format and each edition needs its own ISBN โ paperback gets one, hardcover gets a separate one, eBook gets a third, audiobook a fourth.
- Can I use the same ISBN for the Indian and international editions?
- Yes โ an ISBN identifies the book, not the geography. The same ISBN works worldwide.
- What if I already have an ISBN?
- Then we'll use yours. Just send it across when we kick off the project.
Want us to handle ISBN as part of your book?
