QUITTER CAN NOT BE FITTER

by Jyoti A. Jaybhaye

Exercise and fitness have played a paramount role in my life. I started my fitness journey back in the year 2000. Since then, there have been numerous peaks and troughs but I have not quit my workout routine. There were times when there were 101 reasons for me to turn a blind eye to my fitness. However, I pushed myself to be on track, and this is the reason my friends call me a no-quitter woman. Even at the age of 38, being a mother of two kids, I am impassioned to raise the benchmark of my limits. I was a victim of the dowry system and have been a single parent for almost 10 years now. Simultaneously, I am a working woman. There are many instances when I have had my nose close to the grind. However, after both of my deliveries, I lost 20 kg with discipline and consistency. My mental and physical strengths have empowered me to maintain this steadiness. I fine-tune my fitness routine according to my requirement. For example: 1. For weight loss, I focus on my diet. 2. For stress relief and patience, I practice yoga and meditation. 3. My courage and fighting attitude comes from sports. 4. My energy, hard work and success spark off from hardcore running cardio.
